Douglas Gardens Residences Opens, Offering Affordable Senior Housing in Pembroke Pines

Pembroke Pines has recently welcomed the opening of Douglas Gardens Residences at Miami Jewish Health, a significant development aimed at providing affordable housing and comprehensive healthcare services to seniors aged 55 and older.

Situated on a 14.2-acre portion of a 25-acre campus, Douglas Gardens Residences comprises 410 units, ranging from studios to two-bedroom apartments. This project stands as the largest affordable senior housing development in Broward County and the second largest in Florida. The inclusion of 40 additional units beyond standard zoning allowances was made possible through a density bonus tied to a Broward County affordable housing incentive.

Residents can enjoy a variety of amenities designed to enhance their quality of life, including walking paths, a fitness center, a community room and library, a business center, and a pet grooming station.

In addition to housing, the development features a 15,000-square-foot Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) medical center. Operated by the nonprofit Miami Jewish Health, the PACE center offers primary care, physical and occupational therapy, and mental health services, ensuring that residents have access to comprehensive healthcare on-site.

The opening of Douglas Gardens Residences addresses a growing need for affordable senior housing in the region, providing a supportive environment where older adults can live independently while having access to essential services.
